FINAL TALENT POOL - 2013

What is the Final Talent Pool?

When students apply to the T. Howard Foundation there are two phases to the application process. Phase One consists of the online application and required additional documents. Applicants scoring high enough in Phase One will advance to Phase Two.

Phase Two of the application process is an interview. Applicants meeting the T. Howard Foundation standards for the  interview will be accepted into the Final Talent Pool

Only students accepted into the Final Talent Pool are ELIGIBLE for an internship opportunity with a host company partner. Acceptance as a Final Talent Pool candidate does not guarantee an internship.

From Final Talent Pool to T. Howard Intern

In the Spring our host company partners work with us to identify summer internship placement opportunities. For each open position, the Foundation review committee conducts a search of the Final Talent Pool candidates for the top candidates meeting the company's needs. The top candidates are reviewed and potentially interviewed by the Host Company. Each host company makes the final hiring decision. The placement process will last through mid-May.

All SUMMER internships are paid. The minimum pay rate is $10.00 per hour and the range is $10-25. We do not offer unpaid summer internships.

Please review the 2013 Placement Process for more information on the placement process.

ORIENTATION

Students selected as T. Howard Foundation Interns attend a mandatory Orientation during the first week of June in Silver Spring, MDOrientation is a comprehensive pre-internship experience where our newest class of interns will be challenged, grow, learn and be equipped with the necessary skills to exceed expectations during their internship. The transportation and lodging for out of area attendees is covered by the Foundation.

HOUSING

T. Howard Foundation and our host company partners DO NOT provide housing for interns. It is the interns responsibility to secure safe housing for the duration of an internship period. When considering locations, prospective interns should also consider daily transportation costs. We suggest checking with family, friends and university resources for assistance with housing options. Although the Foundation is unable to assist with the housing search this housing list can get you started on your search. Please note that if the Foundation contacts you about a potential internship opportunity you must have secured housing in that location BEFORE you are able to interview with a host company.

MENTOR

Our mentorship program is an important component in the T. Howard internship experience that greatly benefits both our mentors and mentees. T. Howard mentors share their time, talents and experiences with mentees and serve as role models, advocates and valuable resources to these emerging leaders. Mentors are T. Howard alumni as well as other media career professionals who volunteer their time.
